Job Responsibilities

Are you passionate about helping students learn, gain confidence in their education, and see the spark of success in their eyes? Do you have a varied teaching approach that continuously evolves with your students? Then you might be the one we are looking for to join our teaching staff consisting solely of certified colleagues. In your teaching role with us, you will have the opportunity to focus on the core mission; the students' learning and development towards their goals. Your teaching is modern and creative, aiming to reach and find strategies to empower students both academically and in their development towards responsible citizenship.

You plan, implement, and follow up on your work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, and you continuously work on development based on scientific principles together with colleagues and management. The principal is the educational leader in a flat organization supported by two assistant principals and an administrative manager. The school leadership is accessible and works closely with the operations.

All teachers here are part of both subject teams and work teams and together with a colleague act as mentors for a class. You will also have support from our two student coordinators and other staff from student health services.

Qualifications

We are looking for a certified teacher with qualifications to teach grades 7-9 in science subjects and mathematics. Previous experience working as a teacher in the later years of primary school with good references is a requirement, but if you are a recent graduate with excellent grades from your internship, do not hesitate to apply – with us, you will have a mentor for your entire first year!

You have good collaboration skills, are positive, organized, responsible, and build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You are a confident and clear leader in the classroom and have the ability to see the whole student. In your work, you are also development-oriented and solution-focused. You can plan your work based on the varying workload throughout the school year and have the ability to handle more stressful periods.

You have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing and handle relevant digital tools with ease. Our main teaching materials in all subjects are digital, but we strive for varied teaching with high student activity.

About the Workplace

Mellersta Förstadsskolan is a beautiful old folk school in central Malmö that has been fully renovated into a modern secondary school, providing conditions for high-quality learning in a safe and pleasant study environment for our 450 students. The lovely schoolyard is frequently used, and our beautiful school restaurant has been nationally nominated in White Guide Junior. The school has received several national awards for our reading strategy project, school leadership, and has been awarded the Digital Schools of Distinction Award, World-Class School Library, and the Swedish National Agency for Education's award for Schools for Sustainable Development.
